Spud Sunday: Curious Spuds

Would you care for some wine with your meal? Why, yes, silly question, hand it over here’s my glass…

Now, I will put my hands up and say that I am no expert on the subject of fermented grape juice. That fact, however, does not deter me from quaffing my fair share. Expertise requires practice and I am all about further education for my taste and wine buds. So you can guess that I was more than happy to chat with the guys at Curious Wines about trying out some wine matches for the Daily Spud. I mean, where do I sign?

Offline Almond Slices

It was all going horribly wrong from an internet connection point of view.

The connection from my house decided to cease operations and the provider of the service had been less than helpful with either a diagnosis or resolution. That was followed by a few days as a nomad in search of a wi-fi connection, who quickly became a nomad with lower back trouble due to excessive amounts of laptop carrying. The final straw came with the discovery that, having travelled to my parents house to visit for a few days, I had neglected to bring the laptop’s power lead. Clearly there was a message for me here somewhere!

In these lines from the opening of Fiddler on the Roof, the character Tevye makes reference to the “just because” nature of all kinds of traditions. Doing things just because that’s the way they’ve always been done and kindof forgetting why.
