Those lovely Irish Blog Awards people sure like their spuds.
I mean, they must do, if (woohoo!) they’ve gone and included a certain Spud in the finalists line up for the Food and Drink category of this year’s awards. And not just this year but last year and the year before as well. And I didn’t have to grease anybody’s palms with chips this time.
I’m speechless, not to mention awash with a lot of uneaten chips.
The whole thing calls for a bit of good, old-fashioned yahooing on my part. That and some salt and vinegar.
Seriously, though, it’s an absolute privilege to be listed as a finalist alongside I Can Has Cook, Dinner du Jour, Gimme The Recipe and Like Mam Used To Bake (and if you’re not already familiar with these ladies, I do urge you to check them out). The awards themselves will be happening on Saturday March 19th in Belfast and I figure that it would be rude of me not to attend. Even ruder not to bring a few chips along. Just in case, you understand.
Now, anyone seen my deep fat fryer?
Well done. I distinctly remember a trip to Belfast in 2000. Hope this time someone turns up with the bananas in the right place and at the right time. Failing that, I’m sure a gong from the blog awards will do. Yawn, way past my bedtime. Trying to right an essay on the reformation. I’d love some chips.
Good Lord Michelle, I do remember that trip to Belfast and I hadn’t forgotten about the bananas. It’s also my firm belief that a gong would go a long way towards making up for any past and future dodgy banana deliveries. As for the reformation, now there’s something I had forgotten about!
My goodness! Go get ’em girlie!!!!
Thanks Michelle – or perhaps I should call you Michelle #2, to distinguish from the previous commmenter :) Either way, I promise to go forth and go get whatever I can!
Well done again :) Hope your chips are up on the big night !
Ah thanks Rhyleysgranny – I hope my chips are up on the big night too :)
Think I’ll do my own bit of good old fashioned yahooing in your honour!
Go for it, CN, I’ll join ya :)
Look at you!!! That is so cool, and well deserved! And woo-hoo to the Other Aoife, too. I must go congratulate her, as well.
It is so cool that you are recognized for doing such a phenomenal job and writing such a great blog. So there.
Can I get a “WHOOP WHOOP”?!
Looking forward to catching up with you in Belfast for the INITIATION OF THE AOIFES TAKEOVER THE WORLD PART II
If two Aoifes are in the same place at the same time for the same reason, does the earth implode or something? If not, carry on and have a Good Time! ;)
Aoife: WHOOP, WHOOP!!
Jenni: Very astute of you to notice the possible risks involved with the presence of multiple Aoifes. I regret to inform you that the problem is actually worse than you think. There are, at last count, at least 4 Irish Food Blogger Aoifes, and while we know that 2 Aoifes can survive being in the same place at the same time, and that it’s even possible to have 3 together, NOBOBY KNOWS WHAT’LL HAPPEN WITH 4. As far as we know, all 4 are attending the blog awards, so we’ll either takeover, implode or possibly both :D
Congrats on being a finalist.
Are you going to the Tea Party? I am! Not going to the awards, just the pre-party!
I took part in your St Patricks Food Parade last year, and will try to again this year. I have my own wee bloggy carnival for St Patricks Day too.
Thanks Janmary! Not sure I’ll make the pre-party (if I do, I’ll be sure to introduce myself) and would love to have you join in on the Food Parade again this year.
This honor is all yours! GREG
Aw thanks Greg, good to know I’ve got you cheering for me! :)
