Drinks
What’s In A Flapjack?
Flapjacks made with oats and Baileys Irish Cream. Just because.
Spirit Of The Fringe
Flavoured miniatures from Absolut vodka? Don’t mind if I do. It’s all in the name of the Dublin Fringe Festival, to which I raise my tipple-filled glass.
Good For What Ales You
Yay! Off to visit the Smithwick’s brewery in Kilkenny, oldest operating brewery in Ireland, marking 300 years of brewing Irish ale with a newly revamped tour. And a pint or two of beer.
A Wee Scottish Dram
Sure no trip to Scotland would be complete without a wee dram of Scotch whisky. With that in mind, I made a point of sampling the Arran single malt on my recent Scottish jaunt.
Essence Of Ireland
Presented at this year’s Oxford Symposium Banquet: Irish smoked salmon drizzled with Connemara peated single malt whiskey – a real taste of Ireland
Tea’s Up
A lovely evening was had at the first Dublin Tea Up: lots of tea, lots of chat and an excuse to make some lemon cake with redcurrants
All In Good Taste
Taste of Dublin 2010 – there was granola, there was bubbly, there was Catherine Fulvio and there was much else besides
Spud Sunday: Matters Of Import
I will probably never be a true locavore. Wine and spices (used here in an African potato stew) are just two of the non-local items I would rather not be without.
